I support Mr. Jarvis Johnson because he is a kind person and is very dedicated in supporting his community. He is a generous man! I am a college student at U of H who was raising money to go American Humanics Management Institute (AHMI) National Conference which was held in Phoenix, AZ. this past January 2009. It was because of Mr. Johnson that I was able to take that trip and so many things that will help me further my career. Mr. Johnson donated $100 and actually asked how the trip went when I returned. This is a young innovative man that cares about children, college students, senior citizens and people in general. He is a caring man that wants to better his community as well as the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

I am senior citizen that resides in District D and have been a resident of the 18th Congressional District for over 37 years. I am supporting Jarvis Johnson because I believe that it is time for a CHANGE! It is time that we encourage and support young people with new ideas and that will SERVE the community. I have known Jarvis Johnson over 10 years and throughout those years he has proven to be a young man driven by the needs of the people. I am not really into politics or politicians, but I know personally how this young man feels about the people he represents. I have never met someone so intrigued by the needs of the people. Jarvis Johnson is a remarkable man and I look forward to seeing what his future brings to this community as he embarks upon becoming the Congressman for the 18th Congressional District.

Council Member Johnson, to me, is my angel in disguise. I can honesty say that God put a little something extra in him when creating him. His dedication to the people is unbelievable. I have never met anyone that could so selflessly dedicate his whole life to seeing others receive equal opportunities, better schooling, afterschool programs, libraries, even things as small as cleaning neighborhoods! In my opinion NO one is more qualified for this position. I have sat back and watched him make miracles happen when others did not believe or want to support him, but through it all with God and a team of dedicated supporters behind him--the projects were completed. I have known him to be a man of perseverance and I believe there is no one and nothing that can stop him from reaching his goals. With his eyes on the Lord he can and will accomplish all.

I have known Mr. Johnson for more than 15 years (I'm 25 now). I was a student when he was the Director of Phoenix Outreach Youth Center and I later was one of his employees at the center as well (my first job). I know the heart of Mr. Johnson and the passion that he has to help those that society often forgets about or chooses to look past. For example I can remember being a part of his "Christmas Comes to 5th Ward" activities, which provided tons of kids with gifts for Christmas. I know his record as a City Councilman in working for the constituents of District B. I am supporting Mr. Johnson because he supports and believes in the good of the community he serves. I am supporting Mr. Johnson because of the role model he is to young Black men, and professionals in the City of Houston such as myself. I am supporting Mr. Johnson because it is time for change in the 18th Congressional District.

He is a dedicated family man that knows how to get things done. He knows how to work with people. I know he will be able to move the people in his district forward. He will motivate students to go higher in education which will result in decrease in unemployment rate.

I am supporting Jarvis because I feel he is concerned about the well being of the community. I have worked alongside him for the last four years on various community service projects that he initiated that placed smiles on the disgruntled, gave assistance senior adults, provided school supplies and toys to children, as well as resources to small business owners.

Jarvis is action oriented. Not only does he create programs and policies that benefit his constituents, he works on the details and implementation of the proposed. He shows up to work-to work!

I have been knowing Jarvis since 1996. I was a bus driver for the Phoenix Outreach Youth Center. He was very nice. He took the children all over the world – Africa, Washington, Grand Canyon, you name it.

He took the parents of the kids to Las Vegas. Whenever we need him he comes. I can call him on his phone right now. He fixes stuff in Acres Homes.

He comes to the Julia C. Hester House all of the time to check on the senior citizens. He is the only person that does that. Everything that he does I go to because he is just a great young man.

His mother raised him good.

He is always trying to help people. He is good at that. He is the ideal young man for the position and qualified to be our congressman. I support him in whatever he does.

Jarvis is a wonderful person. I met Jarvis through Mama Rose when I started going to Julia C. Hester House. He is one of the most upstanding young men. When it comes to seniors he does whatever it takes. Seniors are in the pit of his heart. I have seen him in other areas, and he does what he is supposed to do there. He ended up on council for the third time, because the public sees that he does what he does what he is supposed to do. I found out that Jarvis has been working for the community since he was young; his parents instilled something great in him. He was taught from home. When you train up a child in the way they are supposed to go, he will not depart, what was taught will shine like the sunshine.

He tries to help the kids also, no matter what.

I believe that if Jarvis gets in congress, he is going to make a difference for the people in Houston and the nation. He has studied up on it. With god in your heart, you can do whatever.

I am like Obama; it’s time for a change. A time to make Houston what is supposed to be.

He is such a wonderful young man. I have being knowing in for quite some time. He is always supported senior citizens, and I am so proud of him. He is a man of his word. He always supports us. He is just a wonderful example for young people. He has great concerns for young people and for seniors. It is time for a change, and we want to help make the change. We need to let young people have a chance. We think Jarvis is the type of young man who will support our community. I know that infrastructure, roads, etc are important, but why do seniors have to suffer. We are some smart people, and we have a voice, and Jarvis listens to us.

Jarvis entered me in a pageant, the Ms. Pasadena Pageant. Jarvis and Mayor White had a bus to carry my senior citizens to Pasadena, and I won the pageant.

I voted already. He will make it happen. He makes good councilman and will make a great congressman.

I have been knowing him since he was a little boy. I have never known him to be in no trouble, since he was in school. He is a good person as far as I am concerned. He is the only one to come out to help us out. Every time he has a meeting he always invites the seniors. Every holiday, he remembers us and brings us a turkey or ham. He always takes care of us no matter what. All them other congress people don’t come out to see us.
